PROJECT 9: BUILT A PAVILLION

In this group project we need to built a pavillion that are located in the middle of USM campus. We had to include 3 item's in these project that are the report on the site, the drawing of the pavillion and also the model. We had been given 3 weeks to finished up our assignment. Each of our group member's had take part in these task..

First i had include the site analysis of the project:

Site analysis
Contour
Percentage of slopeis determined to identify the areas that are not suitable for development based on the Standard Department of Town and Country Planning (DTCP)

Site analysis; Traffic around USM’s Convocation Site.

The network o main road around the site location can be shown on the diagram below;

The site location is near to the main road that usually and commonly be used by all the students, lectures and people who come in and out from University Science Malaysia. The road that connects to the site is JalanUniversiti and JalanPerpustakaan. The main road that is near to the site location is Jalan Masjid which is the one of the four main entrances in USM. The traffic on the road usually busy during peak hour, because the road is surrounded by main building such as mosque and main office.

Sun direction analysis
The site location is located at the north east from the Institute of Postgraduate Studies building. The sun movement as already know, is form East to West. On that site, the sun radiation is quite less as it is covered by the huge trees.
The average temperature in USM can be stated as ;
Temperature (day) 28 degree Celsius until 33 degree Celsius.
Temperature (night) 22 degree Celsius until 25 degree Celsius.

The importance of solar radiation to the formation of building is it is requires for planning and design of buildings, type & system of insulation, finishes, system of environmental control , types of construction joints and methods of shading.

Site analysis: wind movement
Basically, the wind move circularly and reversible between North East and South West.The wind movement usually high in speed during at the end of year, November till January. With the present of trees around the site location, it makes the environment more calm and peace.
Soil

The type of soil at site is coarse-grained soils. It have gravel n sand. It have low percentage of void spaces and are most stable  than silt and clay. Granular soils such as gravel, sand or some silt require a confining force for their shear resistance and have a relatively shallow angle of repose. The soil underlying a building site may actually consist of superimposed layers each of which contains a mix of soil types, developed by weathering or deposition. There are a flat surface and some uneven ground. Beside that, there are many long roots of large trees, especially in the middle of the site. Next, most of the middle of the site is full of grass and sand. Sloping land conditions make the construction work easier. No critical gradient of site will not disturb the construction work. The integrity of a building structure depends on the stability and strength under loading of the soil underlying the foundation. The stratification, composition and density of the soil bed, variation in particle size and the presence  orabsnce of groundwater are all critical factors in determining the suitability of a soil as a foundation material

ObJect CoNnEcTioN (joINtINg)

Each student must together produce a 'jigsaw puzzle' with total size of 2100mm x 3780mm. Each one of us will represent at least one 'jigsaw puzzle' 210mm x 210mm in size and has our full name drawn in creative writing style. This puzzle must also be colored by us with our  color options of our choice. The thickness of the 'jigsaw puzzle' of every student is free, but it must easily be connected with other friends’ puzzle. The objective of this project is to emphasize the importance of connectivity within a group work. Flexible connectivity will impact more effectively. This is my puzzle.....

Each one of us will represent at least one 'jigsaw puzzle' 210mm x 210mm in size and has full of our name drawn in creative writing style. I had choose the position of I2 as my point...My surrounding colour is blue..We should also be attaching the whole 'jigsaw puzzle' on 'plywood' board. Next, final work will be stuck at the corridors of the 104 studio.
