PROJECT 9: BUILT A PAVILLION

In this group project we need to built a pavillion that are located in the middle of USM campus. We had to include 3 item's in these project that are the report on the site, the drawing of the pavillion and also the model. We had been given 3 weeks to finished up our assignment. Each of our group member's had take part in these task..

First i had include the site analysis of the project:

Site analysis
Contour
Percentage of slopeis determined to identify the areas that are not suitable for development based on the Standard Department of Town and Country Planning (DTCP)

Site analysis; Traffic around USM’s Convocation Site.

The network o main road around the site location can be shown on the diagram below;

The site location is near to the main road that usually and commonly be used by all the students, lectures and people who come in and out from University Science Malaysia. The road that connects to the site is JalanUniversiti and JalanPerpustakaan. The main road that is near to the site location is Jalan Masjid which is the one of the four main entrances in USM. The traffic on the road usually busy during peak hour, because the road is surrounded by main building such as mosque and main office.

Sun direction analysis
The site location is located at the north east from the Institute of Postgraduate Studies building. The sun movement as already know, is form East to West. On that site, the sun radiation is quite less as it is covered by the huge trees.
The average temperature in USM can be stated as ;
Temperature (day) 28 degree Celsius until 33 degree Celsius.
Temperature (night) 22 degree Celsius until 25 degree Celsius.

The importance of solar radiation to the formation of building is it is requires for planning and design of buildings, type & system of insulation, finishes, system of environmental control , types of construction joints and methods of shading.

Site analysis: wind movement
Basically, the wind move circularly and reversible between North East and South West. The wind movement usually high in speed during at the end of year, November till January. With the present of trees around the site location, it makes the environment more calm and peace.
Soil

The type of soil at site is coarse-grained soils. It have gravel n sand. It have low percentage of void spaces and are most stable  than silt and clay. Granular soils such as gravel, sand or some silt require a confining force for their shear resistance and have a relatively shallow angle of repose. The soil underlying a building site may actually consist of superimposed layers each of which contains a mix of soil types, developed by weathering or deposition. There are a flat surface and some uneven ground. Beside that, there are many long roots of large trees, especially in the middle of the site. Next, most of the middle of the site is full of grass and sand. Sloping land conditions make the construction work easier. No critical gradient of site will not disturb the construction work. The integrity of a building structure depends on the stability and strength under loading of the soil underlying the foundation. The stratification, composition and density of the soil bed, variation in particle size and the presence  orabsnce of groundwater are all critical factors in determining the suitability of a soil as a foundation material

Each student must together produce a 'jigsaw puzzle' with total size of 2100mm x 3780mm. Each one of us will represent at least one 'jigsaw puzzle' 210mm x 210mm in size and has our full name drawn in creative writing style. This puzzle must also be colored by us with our  color options of our choice. The thickness of the 'jigsaw puzzle' of every student is free, but it must easily be connected with other friends’ puzzle. The objective of this project is to emphasize the importance of connectivity within a group work. Flexible connectivity will impact more effectively. This is my puzzle.....

Each one of us will represent at least one 'jigsaw puzzle' 210mm x 210mm in size and has full of our name drawn in creative writing style. I had choose the position of I2 as my point...My surrounding colour is blue..We should also be attaching the whole 'jigsaw puzzle' on 'plywood' board. Next, final work will be stuck at the corridors of the 104 studio.

Group 9 Presentation

Penang Heritage place:
Our group had choose three of heritage place in george town, penang that are india house, pinang peranakan manson, and islamic museum. We have thirteen group members that are different religion and courses that why we choose culture as our main target in our research and analysis...we are focusing on malay, india and chiness..After we had finish doing our research, then we are dividing into four group for the presentation board. I'm suppose to do the location map with another two of my friends Mimi and Long Fatimah. Our group had gave full of their effort and cooperation doing this task and we tried our best for the presentation on the friday morning...we had include some information and drawing on our presentation board. Eventhough our group presentation was not good as others but we are still have something that I want to share that are we enjoyed as one team... and we tried to cooperate and know each other in this group...thank you to all my friends.....love you all :)

Project 8: "Doddle"

Project group 7 :

George Town Unesco World Heritage Site

Penang is a state in Malaysia and the name of its constituent island, located on the northwest coast of Peninsular Malaysia by the Strait of Malacca. It is bordered by Kedah in the north and east, and Perak in the south. Penang is the second smallest Malaysian state in area after Perlis, and the eighth most populous. It is composed of two parts – Penang Island, where the seat of government is, and Seberang Perai (formerly, and occasionally Province Wellesley) on the Malay Peninsula. Highly urbanised and industrialised Penang is one of the most developed and economically important states in the country, as well as a thriving tourist destination.[4][5][6] Its heterogeneous population is highly diverse in ethnicity, culture, language, and confessions. It is also widely recognised as the most socially progressive,[citation needed] being the home of both the Consumer's Association of Penang, and of the reform group Aliran. A resident of Penang is colloquially known as a Penangite.

ANALYSIS OF GWHS BUILDING (PRESENTATION)

We are required to visits Georgetown World Heritage Site.
We choose 3 buildings that are thematic (having a common theme) and we take photographically record. Pictures we take from Front Elevation, Back and Side of buildings.

THREE PLACES that we choose are:
  1. India House
  2. Pinang Peranakan Mansion
  3. Islamic Museum

In this project we should describe the chosen buildings selection based on size, function and building age.Thenwe should describe the surrounding environment parameters and the geographical location and give comments on the renovation on said buildings.
We need to identify significant ornament / embellishment / icons by photographically zooming on them. Elements are necessary to produce in sketches.
We must produce informative a graphic presentation that has informations, sketches and pictures that achieved inside 4 sheet (mounting boards) presentation that resume by 2 column and 2 rows in landscape. Presentations are applying upper case lettering.
Media Medium

The Project Objective are:
Student can learn cooperation in getting information, discuss and translate the information through the medium in graphic, photography, sketch and report. Exposure in World Heritage Site also gives the opportunity to students to understand intrinsically in the built environment and implied and as far as important in development trend today.
Penghantaran Submission

Our journey to Penang Heritage Place on 29 Oct 2011 (Saturday) at 11 a.m until 2 p.m by my dad car.....begin...

First Place we choose is india house:

2nd place is Pinang Peranakan Mansion:

3rd building is Islamic Museum:

In 2008 UNESCO listed Georgetown as World Heritage Site because of the many original colonial (Chinese style) shophouses. Besides the many beautiful historical buildings; Georgetown also has many modern highrise buildings that often contains big shopping malls. In and around Georgetown there are many fun attractions that are absolutely worthy of a visit.
Georgetown, the capital of the island Penang, is named after the British King George III. The city is located at the northeast side of the island and has, suburbs included, about 550.000 inhabitants. After Penang was handed over by the sultan of Kedah to the English, Sir Francis Light founded the city Georgetown. He immediately started the construction of Fort Cornwallis. Over the years this first settlement evolved into a big city (in that time). In 1957 Georgetown got permission to be called a city and until 1972 it was the only city in Malaysia with this permission.

We have to produce a 'jigsaw puzzle' with total size of 2100mm x 3780mm.

Each one of us will represent at least one 'jigsaw puzzle' 210mm x 210mm in size and has full of our name drawn in creative writing style. Here are some of my doddle design....

School of Housing,Building and Plannning (HBP)  in USM

Read it....

Some information about school of HBP...These building were established in 1972 by the late Tan Sri Professor Hamzah Sendut, the Vice Chancellor of USM, the nation’s second oldest university, the School of Housing, Building and Planning is one of the few building construction-based educational centres in Malaysia that is multi-disciplinary in nature. The School was modeled along the lines of what Professor Koenigsberger and Markus had envisioned to meet the needs of a developing country.

Even though over the years it has evolved to cater to a more widely accepted precept that clearly demarcates professional boundaries, the inter-disciplinary tradition is still maintained in all its undergraduate courses and also postgraduate programmes in six disciplinary namely Construction Management, Architecture, Interior Design, Building Technology, Urban & Regional Planning and Quantity Surveying.

In project six we are suppose to analyze the  site plan, key plan, and location plan of the hbp building. In this project I had put some information about the topography, the sunrise and sunset, the prevailing wind, the surrounding effect  at hbp especially the fantastic view you can see from the studio then the facilities in hbp like bus stop, hbp research and resource center and other things in hbp building. Here are some of photos when I am doing this assignment...hope you enjoed it....

the view of Penang bridge from the hbp studio:

I take a short video on the roof at studio building:

site plan:

The process of completing the hbp analysis problem begin........

from the picture you can see the information about hbp building and also the site analysis..

I had divide into two main component on my A2 board. The information about the hbp and another things about the site analysis of hbp building, which I'm focus on the studio building. The studio location is very strategic place among the rest in hbp site, because of some factor that I had highlight and transfer into my handwriting and some photos in there...hopefully you can understand my writing...

the latest project that I had FINISH it..alhamdulillah

7 concept in our university are:

In this project I had applied the concept of nature that is  bamboo tree

" Let From Rebungnya bend starve "

From Abu Hurairah, the Prophet said:

"Every child born in a state of nature (ie, the Muslim holy). Both his parents who make him Jewish, Christian or a Magian. " (Bukhari) According to Imam Al-Ghazali, a child is like a polished gem yet. Mother and father that will grind menggilapnya to become beautiful and sparkling diamonds. Clearly, her father that will determine whether the children "to" or not.
